Job Summary

This position is responsible for performing a wide range of financial management, accounting, procurement, budget, and administrative tasks under the supervision of the Chief, Financial Services Branch. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in governmental budgeting and fiscal management, with the ability to apply complex financial principles to governmental systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Financial management of General Fund and grant-funded programs, including monitoring revenues and expenditures, and performing personnel and operating projections.
  • Preparing the Agency's third quarter review, participating in year-end/carryover processes, and developing county budget submission documentation.
  • Producing financial reports as required by the agency, the federal government, the state, and the county, including seized asset reporting and the jail cost report.
  • Working with program staff to develop account reports for program tracking of expenses and revenue, ensuring accurate reporting as monitored by general ledger code.
  • Acting as the lead point of contact for all financial audits, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and county financial requirements and regulations.
  • Assisting with the financial components of grant and contractual awards, including purchasing, contracts, and procurement card management.
  • Leading or supporting Selection Advisory Committee for agency procurements, establishing and enforcing all financial-related policies and procedures.
  • Collaborating with staff to develop purchasing and policy solutions to complex purchasing challenges.
Requirements
  • Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a bachelor's degree in accounting, business administration, public administration, public policy, or a related field.
  • Three years of professional-level experience in finance, business administration, budgeting, or contract management, or a master's degree in a related field or CPA may substitute for one year of experience.
  • Experience working with governmental budgeting, accounting, procurement, or financial management is preferred.
  • Proficiency with MS Excel and knowledge of Fairfax County finance and purchasing policies and procedures are also preferred.
