Job Opportunity

We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced faculty member to join our School of Education as an Assistant Professor of Literacy. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching and overseeing courses in literacy, contributing to program growth and development, and collaborating with School of Education leadership on continuous improvement in literacy education.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teach and develop literacy courses for undergraduate and graduate students
  • Oversee and support adjunct faculty members teaching literacy courses
  • Collaborate with School of Education leadership on accreditation and program approval
  • Develop and implement new literacy programming initiatives

Requirements:

  • Doctorate in reading/literacy from an accredited university
  • Experience as a reading or literacy specialist in a PK-12 school
  • Record of successful college-level teaching
  • Experience with accreditation and program development
  • Knowledge of the International Dyslexia Association (IDA) Knowledge and Practice Standards for Teachers of Reading
  • Ability to use data for continuous improvement and develop curricula
  • Experience supporting adjunct faculty and promoting equity in education
  • Comfort with educational technology and collaboration with colleagues

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience as a reading or literacy director in a PK-12 school
  • Experience developing programs and partnerships with PK-12 schools
  • Knowledge of the International Literacy Association (ILA) Standards for the Preparation of Literacy Professionals
  • Participation in professional education associations and literacy education organizations
