The Program Director is a critical leadership role within California Correctional Health Care Services, responsible for overseeing the management of the psychiatrist/psychologist service for the Salinas Valley – Psychiatric Inpatient Program. This position requires a strong clinical background and leadership skills to provide general direction to professional and non-professional staff, ensuring the quality of clinical services performed.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, review, and maintain policies and procedures for the psychiatrist/psychologist and mental health treatment program.
  • Provide general direction to professional and non-professional staff, ensuring the quality of clinical services performed.
  • Collaborate with other mental health professionals to develop and implement treatment plans.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and standards.
  • Manage and oversee the program's budget and resources.

Requirements:

  • One year of clinical experience performing the duties of a Program Assistant (Mental Disabilities), Program Assistant (Mental Disabilities Safety), or Nursing Coordinator.
  • Four years of clinical nursing experience in the Department of Mental Health performing the duties of a class comparable in level of responsibility to that of a Unit Supervisor, Standards Compliance Coordinator, or Supervising Registered Nurse, three years of which must have been in a treatment program for persons with mental disabilities.
  • Four years of clinical experience working with persons who have mental or developmental disabilities as a psychiatric social worker, psychologist, rehabilitation therapist, or teacher, three years of which must have been in a treatment program for persons with mental disabilities.

Working Conditions:

Travel is required.
