CAT Scan Technologist Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated CAT Scan Technologist to join our team at Crescent City Recruitment Group. As a CAT Scan Technologist, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality imaging services to our patients.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Operate CAT scan equipment to produce high-quality images of patients' internal structures.
  • Prepare patients for procedures, including explaining the exam and positioning them correctly.
  • Assist radiologists during procedures as needed.
  • Perform equipment quality assurance and calibrations as required.
  • Process images and CDs as needed.
  • Perform routine office duties, such as answering phones and documenting patient information.
  • Notify transport when patients are ready to be picked up or returned to the floor.
  • May be assigned as an instructor or preceptor.
  • Treat all people/staff in a professional and courteous manner, upholding the hospital's behavioral standards.
  • Introduce self, use 2 patient identifiers, and explain the exam to the patient and/or family members.
  • Knowledgeable and skillful in providing care and meeting the physical and psychosocial needs of different patient populations.
  • Perform New York State and ACR quality assurance tasks and calibrations.
  • Perform other related duties as required, attends staff meetings and in-service.
Requirements:
  • Graduate of an allied health education and accredited radiography school or hospital-based program.
  • NY State DOH Licensure or Limited Permit required.
  • ARRT registered (RT) and radiograph (R) and or (CT) certified and/or NMTCB registered (CNMT), and documented training and experience in operating CT equipment and radiation physics and protection.
  • Passing advanced CT examination/certification within 1 year from date of hire.
  • Continuing education requirements need to be upheld to meet the standards set forth by governing bodies.
  • Current standards are 24 ECE credits over a two-year period depending on the year of birth.
  • DOH IV certification preferred or by completion of 6-month orientation.
  • BLS certification through the (AHA) American Heart Association is required or must be completed within 90 days of hire.

Radiation dose pledge for both Image Gently and Image Wisely through the American College of Radiology (ACR) will be performed during the orientation process and before the end of the probationary period.
