We are seeking a skilled and experienced CAT Scan Technologist to join our team at Management Business Solutions. You will also be responsible for preparing, operating, and caring for the equipment being used, processing images and CDs when needed, and adhering to established radiology standards of care.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare and position patients correctly for specific examinations, observing different and special requirements for each protocol.
- Assume responsibility for designated areas and/or procedures and produce good technical images, reviewing completed exams for quality and completeness.
- Assist physicians during procedures as necessary.
- Perform equipment quality assurance and calibrations as needed, and notify senior staff when supplies are low.
- Work in emergency procedures or when situations arise in the department, and work on call, holiday, overtime, and/or day, evening, and overnight shift coverage to maintain adequate and safe coverage for the department.
- Maintain the cleanliness of all work areas, equipment, and accessories, and report all malfunctioning equipment to Bio Med or senior staff.
- Process images or print CDs when needed.
- Perform routine office duties, such as answering phones, checking previous reports/films, documenting information on patients in EPIC, hospital RIS, and PACs digital x-ray system.
- Notify transport when patients are ready to be picked up or returned to the floor.
- May be assigned as an instructor or preceptor.
- Treat all people/staff in a professional and courteous manner, upholding the hospital's behavioral standards.
- Introduce yourself, use two patient identifiers, and explain the exam to the patient and/or family members.
- Be knowledgeable and skillful in providing care and meeting the physical and psychosocial needs of different patient populations, including neonate/newborn, pediatric/adolescent, adults, and geriatric groups.
- Perform New York State and ACR quality assurance tasks and calibrations.
- Perform other related duties as required, attend staff meetings, and in-service.
- Be aware of department-specific protocols and policies, such as Stroke Program/Code Gray, IV & Oral contrast, etc.
- Graduate of an allied health education and accredited radiography school or hospital-based program.
- NY State DOH Licensure or Limited Permit required.
- ARRT registered (RT) and radiograph (R) and/or (CT) certified and/or NMTCB registered (CNMT), and documented training and experience in operating CT equipment and radiation physics and protection.
- Passing advanced CT examination/certification within 1 year from date of hire.
- Continuing education requirements need to be upheld to meet the standards set forth by governing bodies.
- DOH IV certification preferred or by completion of 6-month orientation.
- BLS certification through the (AHA) American Heart Association is required or must be completed within 90 days of hire.
- Radiation dose pledge for both Image Gently and Image Wisely through the American College of Radiology (ACR) will be performed during the orientation process and before the end of the probationary period.
