Position Summary:
As a Cost Control Specialist, you will play a pivotal role in guiding clients through the complexities of project costs, ensuring that every financial aspect is meticulously managed from inception to completion.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide strategic advice to clients regarding vendor prequalification, proposal assessments, and bid evaluations, while facilitating bid interviews and overseeing the appointment process.
  • Oversee comprehensive estimating services for projects by creating detailed cost estimates, reviewing junior team members' estimations, and presenting findings to clients, including value engineering and risk assessments.
  • Establish and manage cost reporting protocols, including the development of cost forecasts, budget reviews, and commercial risk registers, while conducting regular meetings with project teams and vendors.
  • Implement cost control measures by reviewing payment applications, collaborating with project managers on contractor entitlements, and addressing change order requests from vendors.
  • Supervise the invoicing process to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Benchmark project performance against successful commissions to identify areas for improvement.
  • Manage the final accounting process, including post-contract audits and account closures.
  • Conduct post-contract reviews with clients to document lessons learned and develop training materials.
  • Formulate procedures for the effective handover of projects.
  • Utilize various tools such as Bid Analysis Sheets, Change Control Forms, and Cost Estimating Software to execute responsibilities efficiently.
Qualifications:
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in cost estimation is essential, with a preference for full cost management experience.
  • Experience in commercial construction projects is highly valued.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills are required, along with the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • A degree in construction management, cost management, quantity surveying, engineering, or a related field is preferred.
  • RICS accreditation is advantageous but not mandatory.
