Key Responsibilities

In your role as an Advanced Installer Specialist, you will be tasked with interpreting and executing installation specifications for diverse construction initiatives. Your commitment to excellence and precision will be vital.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Assessing floor plan layouts, power distribution, backup power systems, and cabling for central office equipment.
  • Designing and requisitioning necessary components for low- and high-level racking, power distribution, aisle lighting, and grounding provisions.
  • Creating detailed and accurate installation specifications along with equipment requirements to meet customer demands.
  • Updating location records, drawings, bills of materials (BOM), installation notes, and memos to reflect changes due to installation or engineering tasks.
  • Demonstrating familiarity with specifications and drawings essential for assembling and integrating telecommunications equipment into a Central Office setting.
  • Utilizing hand tools necessary for the installation of transmission equipment, including crimpers, wire wrap guns, strippers, wrenches, hammers, drills, and stencils.
  • Transporting tools and materials to job sites as required.
  • Providing guidance and oversight to junior installers regarding job progress, material shortages, customer feedback, and safety concerns.
  • Understanding customer installation and quality standards, including relevant industry specifications.
  • Conducting self-quality checks on all aspects of your work prior to final approval.
  • Assembling, modifying, and installing overhead ironwork, relay racks, transmission equipment, and cable ladders.
  • Connecting power, signal, and ground cables to interlink equipment.
  • Cutting and terminating various types of cables, ensuring proper labeling of installed equipment and terminations.
  • Maintaining a professional relationship with customers, supervisors, and colleagues.
  • Providing accurate departmental documentation as requested.
  • Adhering to all safety and security protocols, ensuring a safe and hazard-free work environment.
  • Appropriately dressing for the job environment.
  • Exhibiting proficiency in all phases of equipment installation and testing to facilitate career advancement.
  • Reviewing installation specifications thoroughly.
Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED, with electronics training equivalent to two years of technical trade school or equivalent experience.
  • A minimum of three years of experience as a Level II Central Office Installer.
  • You promptly address customer needs and actively seek feedback to enhance partnerships.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel, with the ability to navigate company databases for job status updates.
  • Capable of lifting tools and equipment as necessary (minimum 10 lbs).
  • Well-versed in customer specifications and standards.
  • Excellent communication skills, capable of articulating ideas clearly and persuasively.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills, with the ability to set and achieve goals.
  • Dependable and committed to following instructions and management directives.
  • Willingness to travel as required.
