Key Responsibilities

In the role of Installer III, you will be tasked with interpreting and executing installation specifications for various construction projects. Your commitment to excellence will drive you to complete tasks efficiently and effectively.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Assessing floor plan layouts, power distribution, backup power supplies, and cabling for central office equipment.
  • Designing and requisitioning parts necessary for establishing low- and high-level racking, transmission racking, power racking, aisle lighting, and grounding provisions.
  • Creating precise installation specifications and accurate equipment requirements to meet customer orders.
  • Updating location records, drawings, bills of materials (BOM), installation notes, and memos to reflect modifications resulting from installation or engineering activities.
  • Understanding specifications and drawings needed to assemble and integrate telecommunications transmission equipment into a Central Office environment.
  • Utilizing hand tools essential for the installation of transmission equipment, including crimpers, wire wrap guns, strippers, wrenches, hammers, drills, and stencils.
  • Transporting tools and materials to job sites as required.
  • Providing guidance and support to junior installers regarding job progress, material shortages, customer feedback, and safety concerns.
  • Familiarizing yourself with customer installation and quality standards.
  • Conducting self-quality checks on all aspects of your work prior to sign-off.
  • Assembling, modifying, and installing overhead ironwork, relay racks, transmission equipment, and cable ladders.
  • Running power, signal, and ground cables to interconnect equipment.
  • Cutting and terminating various types of cables with appropriate connectors.
  • Establishing and maintaining professional relationships with customers, supervisors, and co-workers.
  • Maintaining accurate departmental documentation as requested.
  • Adhering to all safety and security protocols and contributing to a safe work environment.
  • Wearing appropriate attire for the job environment.
  • Demonstrating proficiency in all phases of installation and testing of equipment.
  • Reviewing installation specifications thoroughly.
Qualifications

  • You possess a high school diploma or GED and have completed electronics training equivalent to two years of technical trade school.
  • You have at least three years of experience as a Level II Central Office Installer.

  • You are proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel and can navigate company databases to update job statuses.
  • You can lift tools and equipment as needed (minimum 10 lbs).
  • You are knowledgeable about customer specifications and standards.
  • You possess excellent communication skills, capable of conveying information clearly and persuasively.
  • You demonstrate strong time management and organizational skills.
  • You are reliable and follow through on commitments.
  • You are willing to travel as required.
