Position Title: Product Development Manager

Overview:

The Product Development Manager oversees all incoming project requests and manages the work-in-progress (WIP) calendar. This role involves coordinating projects with various teams, including the Floor and Design departments, and ensuring effective communication between the Technical Service Representatives (TSR) and Product Development/Design teams. Additionally, the manager is responsible for inventory oversight of studio materials and the management of sample and mockup reference libraries.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Daily Management: Oversee daily WIP timelines and ensure projects are delivered with all necessary materials to the production floor.
  • Project Coordination: Ensure timely delivery of all projects between the production floor and office, aligning expectations across teams.
  • WIP Distribution: Distribute weekly WIP updates to Product Development and Design teams, making adjustments as necessary.
  • Sample Management: Photograph samples and maintain the Sample Image Archives, ensuring all images are stored on company systems.
  • Project Management Process:

1. Receive incoming Design Cards (DCs) and collaborate with the Director to finalize any missing details, such as measurements and design specifications.

2. Distribute Design Cards to staff, ensuring that all information remains current.

3. Identify and coordinate all necessary raw materials, including components, while communicating timelines to relevant teams.

4. Facilitate handoff meetings for new projects with team members.

5. Collaborate with the Floor Supervisor to manage delivery schedules and communicate any changes to the Director and teams.

6. Develop and implement strategies to enhance workflow and operational efficiency.

  • Inventory Oversight: Manage all raw materials, including hardware, leather, and trims.
  • Cross-Department Liaison: Act as a liaison between Design, Product Development, and TSR for all projects.
  • Reference Library Management: Oversee reference libraries, including technique trials, mockups, and innovations.
  • Pattern Archiving: Coordinate archival and file sharing processes with Product Development.
  • Support for Production: Assist the Director in drafting engineering comments as needed.
  • Sample Review Process:

1. Support the sample review process to identify any issues and communicate necessary edits to the Patternmaker.

2. Relay quality concerns and comments to Design and Product Development to ensure alignment on quality standards.

3. Communicate any supply or deadline issues to the Director and clients.

  • Staff Coordination: Organize staff schedules when overtime is required, based on WIP completion needs.
  • Shop Inventory Management: Oversee ordering and management of shop materials.
  • Meal Coordination: Arrange meals for staff working overtime as needed.
  • Maintenance Coordination: Manage ongoing service maintenance for all equipment, keeping a log of issues.
  • Parts Ordering: Order machine parts and maintain an inventory of machine components, ensuring manuals are up to date and working closely with mechanics to resolve issues promptly.
  • Workflow Improvement: Take initiative to implement and enhance strategies aimed at improving workflow and efficiency.

Job Type: Full-time – In-person

Schedule: Monday to Friday (weekends as necessary)
