Position Title: Product Development Manager

Overview:

The Product Development Manager is responsible for overseeing all incoming project requests and managing the work-in-progress (WIP) calendar. This role involves coordinating projects with various teams, including the Floor and Design departments, and ensuring effective communication between the Technical Support Representative (TSR) and Product Development/Design teams. Additionally, the manager will handle inventory management of studio materials and maintain sample and mockup reference libraries.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Daily Management: Oversee daily WIP timelines and ensure that all project materials are efficiently passed to the Floor Manager, while also managing the timely delivery of projects between the floor and office.
  • WIP Distribution: Distribute weekly WIP updates to Product Development and Design teams, making necessary adjustments and updates as required.
  • Sample Management: Photograph samples and maintain the Sample Image Archives, ensuring all images are stored on company systems.
  • Project Coordination: Receive incoming Design Cards (DCs) and collaborate with the Director to finalize any missing details, such as measurements and design specifications.
  • Material Coordination: Identify and coordinate all necessary raw materials, including components, and communicate timelines to floor staff and design teams.
  • Handoff Meetings: Conduct direct handoff meetings for new projects with team members to ensure clarity and alignment.
  • Strategy Implementation: Develop and implement strategies aimed at enhancing workflow and operational efficiency.

Inventory Oversight:

  • Manage inventory of all raw materials, including hardware, leather, and trims.
  • Act as a liaison between Design, Product Development, and TSR for all projects.
  • Oversee reference libraries, including technique trials, mockups, and innovations.
  • Coordinate pattern archival and file sharing with the Product Development team.
  • Assist the Director in drafting engineering comments as needed for production.
  • Follow up on sample reviews to identify any issues and communicate necessary edits to the Patternmaker.

Quality Assurance:

  • Communicate quality concerns and comments to Design and Product Development teams to ensure alignment on quality standards.
  • Notify the Director and clients of any supply or deadline issues.

Staff Coordination:

  • Coordinate staff schedules for overtime as needed based on WIP completion requirements.
  • Manage shop inventory, including ordering and overseeing shop materials.
  • Organize meals for staff working overtime as necessary.
  • Oversee maintenance of machines, keeping a log of issues and coordinating service as needed.
  • Order machine parts and maintain an inventory of machine components, ensuring all issues are addressed promptly.
  • Proactively implement and manage strategies to enhance workflow and efficiency.

Job Type: Full-time – In-person

Schedule: Monday to Friday (weekends as necessary)
