Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and customer-focused Baggage Service Office Representative to join our team at Bags. As a key member of our airport operations team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service to airline passengers who have experienced delayed, damaged, or pilfered baggage.

Key Responsibilities
  • Customer Service: Interact with airline passengers in a courteous, efficient, friendly, and professional manner to resolve baggage claims in a timely manner.
  • Baggage Claims Processing: Process delayed, damaged, and pilfered baggage claims in accordance with company policy and procedures.
  • Baggage Tracking: Ensure all baggage file information is complete and accurate in the computerized baggage tracking system.
  • Task Management: Process all baggage tasks in the Task Manager Workflow and forward on-hand bags to the Central Baggage Resolution Office in accordance with prescribed timelines.
  • Baggage Delivery: Arrange baggage delivery with baggage service delivery providers and assist customers with damaged and pilfered bags, lost and found, and loss and/or delay of assistive devices.
  • Refunds and Expenses: Process baggage refunds and interim expenses in accordance with company policy.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Understand and manage work based on DOT guidelines, limits to liability, Contract of Carriage, and company policy.
  • Additional Duties: Perform additional related duties as deemed operationally necessary by baggage service supplier or airline.
Requirements
  • Age and Authorization: Must be at least 18 years of age and authorized to work in the United States.
  • Background and Drug Screen: Must be able to clear a background and drug screen.
  • Lifting and Mobility: Must be able to lift up to 70 lbs consistently throughout the shift and move in a relatively quick manner.
  • Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills using appropriate grammar, tone, and pronunciation to effectively communicate with internal and external customers.
  • Training and Compliance: Complete all required training including airport compliance and obtain an airport badge.
  • Experience: Previous 1-2+ years of customer service experience preferred, with airline experience a plus.
Appearance Guidelines

Employees are expected to present a professional business-like image at all times, even when working behind the scenes. This includes wearing clean and well-maintained approved uniforms on shift, and adhering to the following guidelines:

  • Facial Hair: Fully grown in, well-maintained mustache, beard, or goatee is permitted.
  • Tattoos and Body Piercings: No visible tattoos or body piercings are allowed, with any tattoos to be covered by uniform or other means agreed upon by management.
Work Environment

The employee will be required to work in a fast-paced airport environment, interacting with customers and fellow employees on a regular basis. The employee will be required to use hands and fingers to communicate with customers and fellow employees, and to perform various tasks related to baggage claims processing.
