Marine Pipe Installation Specialist

Position Overview: The Marine Pipe Installation Specialist is tasked with the removal, repair, layout, fabrication, installation, and testing of marine piping systems, including Auxiliary Salt Water, Fire Main, Potable Water, Hydraulic, Compressed Air, Fuel Oil, Lube Oil, and Engine Exhaust, according to specified work items. This role also involves providing guidance to apprentices and helpers under the supervision of a lead.

Qualifications and Experience Required:
- Ability to understand instructions, blueprints, and general correspondence.
- Comprehensive knowledge of ship construction practices.
- Physical and medical capability to wear all necessary personal protective equipment (PPE) as mandated by OSHA standards.
- PPE requirements include hard hats, safety glasses, steel-toed footwear, goggles, respirators, safety harnesses, safety lines, flotation gear, etc.
- Ability to effectively communicate job-related information, including conditions found in reports and recommended corrective actions.
- Thorough knowledge and experience with P-73 joint fit-up.
- Ability to interpret blueprints, specifications, and Navy/MSC/ABS standard items and manuals.
- Extensive knowledge of equipment and processes used in marine pipe fabrication, repair, and installation.
- Proficient in operating and maintaining equipment, portable power tools, and hand tools necessary for the job.
- Basic mathematical skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division of whole numbers, fractions, and decimals. Familiarity with both US customary and metric measurement systems.
- A minimum of three (3) years of experience in pipefitting within a shipyard environment.
