Position Overview

The M.S. in Technology Management program at the School of Professional Studies is in search of experienced professionals to deliver critical financial insights and analytical expertise to our students. This role involves serving as part-time Instructors for an in-person course focused on Financial Management for Technology.

This course delves into fundamental corporate finance principles tailored for individuals with a foundational understanding of finance and accounting. It employs a case-based approach to examine key topics such as project valuation, cost of capital, capital structure, and firm valuation, while also considering the intricate relationships between financial decisions, strategic objectives, and economic evaluations.

Analytical tools will be rigorously applied to real-world scenarios, including leveraged transactions, hybrid securities, market volatility, mergers and acquisitions, and corporate restructuring.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct engaging in-person lectures and facilitate classroom discussions.
  • Assess student performance and provide constructive feedback on assignments.
  • Address student inquiries and serve as the primary contact for academic support.
  • Maintain regular office hours for student consultations.
  • Complete necessary training for new part-time Instructors on the online learning management system.

Class Schedule

Classes will convene on Monday evenings, fostering an interactive learning environment.

Qualifications

Columbia University SPS adheres to a scholar-practitioner model, ensuring that students benefit from faculty who possess both academic credentials and practical industry experience.

Requirements

  • A graduate degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related technology field from an accredited institution.
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in management and leadership roles.
  • Prior university teaching experience is preferred.

Compensation

The remuneration for this position is competitive, reflecting the semester-length course responsibilities.
