Position Overview

  • Guide the team in utilizing resources efficiently to minimize waste and enhance operational effectiveness.
  • Provide real-time feedback and support to ensure productivity and meet daily objectives.
  • Communicate staffing requirements to management.
  • Ensure a safe and rewarding workplace for all employees, providing necessary safety training and addressing any safety concerns promptly.
  • Support organizational changes and decisions positively.
  • Maintain open communication with management regarding employee matters in a confidential manner.
  • Ensure compliance with company and regulatory standards during daily operations, including monitoring employee breaks and providing coverage as needed.
  • Adhere to performance management guidelines and maintain accurate documentation; facilitate training for staff and identify opportunities for development.

Essential Duties

  • Lead the Culinary Safety initiative by conducting individual safety discussions with staff.
  • Complete and document monthly inventory in the designated shared location.
  • Submit maintenance requests and collaborate with vendors or internal maintenance teams to resolve issues.
  • Prepare food for various outlets as directed by the Kitchen Manager.
  • Oversee food preparation and production for service across all culinary venues.
  • Ensure cleanliness in kitchen areas by assigning cleaning tasks to team members.
  • Maintain high standards of quality and consistency in all culinary projects.
  • Assign food preparation duties to kitchen staff.
  • Receive and verify deliveries, ensuring compliance with health standards.
  • Place nightly orders for kitchen supplies while managing inventory levels.
  • Train new employees on various kitchen stations.
  • Model safe work practices and set a positive example for the team.
  • Notify the Kitchen Manager of any equipment malfunctions.
  • Communicate effectively with all team members in both front and back of house.
  • Create special menu items with approval from the Kitchen Manager.
  • Minimize food waste during preparation and guide staff in efficient practices.

Non-Essential Duties
Additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent, or relevant experience.
  • Culinary degree or a minimum of five years in a high-volume kitchen setting.
  • Three or more years of supervisory experience.

Certifications

  • Food Handler Manager Certification.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Basic proficiency in English, both spoken and written.
  • Understanding of safe food handling and preparation protocols.
  • Familiarity with kitchen equipment operation and maintenance.
  • Proficient knife skills and knowledge of culinary terminology.
  • Experience with various cooking techniques, including but not limited to, preparation of sauces, stocks, and butchery.
  • Strong adherence to sanitation standards.

Work Environment

  • Restaurant setting with both indoor and outdoor work areas.
  • Exposure to varying temperatures and environmental conditions.
  • Use of personal protective equipment is required.
  • Work in confined spaces and close quarters.
  • Exposure to dust, chemicals, and noise from kitchen equipment.
  • Potential exposure to hot surfaces and oil.
  • Closed-toe shoes are mandatory.
