Histology Technician or Histotechnologist: A Rewarding Career in Diagnostic Pathology

Mayo Clinic is seeking highly skilled Histology Technicians or Histotechnologists to join our Anatomic Pathology Frozen Section Laboratory team. As a Histology Technician or Histotechnologist, you will play a critical role in the diagnosis of patients by preparing microscopic slide preparations and performing technical procedures.
Key Responsibilities- Perform a variety of technical procedures to create microscopic slide preparations, including accessioning specimens, specimen processing, and microtomy techniques.
- Participate in on-call rotations, including weekends as needed.
- Prepare specimens and perform testing procedures on pathology specimens for diagnostic and/or prognostic analysis by the pathologist.
- Apply technical theory to provide overall operational support necessary to maintain and optimize testing activities.
- Associate degree required for Histology Technician (HT) position.
- Bachelor's degree required for Histotechnologist (HTL) position.
- Certification by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) required for both HT and HTL positions.
- Ability to accommodate scheduling adjustments, off shifts, holidays, on-call, and weekend work assignments.
