About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Safety Specialist I to join our team at Knoxville TVA Employees Credit Union. As a key member of our organization, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety and well-being of our employees, members, and the communities we serve.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough inspections of buildings and structures to identify potential life safety hazards and code violations.
  • Write and file reports of fire and safety inspections, code violations, and corrective recommendations.
  • Ensure buildings are equipped with necessary life safety equipment, including fire extinguishers, smoke detectors, and sprinkler systems.
  • Conduct onsite inspections as required by code and check for accumulations of combustible materials, electrical wiring problems, and inadequate fire exits.
  • Assist with testing of life safety systems and help research and verify buildings are in compliance with laws, codes, and regulations.
  • Evaluate evacuation procedures and suggest revisions as needed, and assist with determining the cause of fires.
  • Help review fire code requirements, fire prevention information, and safety information with contractors, vendors, and Credit Union staff.
  • Assist with plan reviews for new or remodeled buildings to ensure they meet fire and safety codes.
  • Help prepare and update staff training material on fire safety, OSHA regulations, and accident prevention.
  • Attend training classes to maintain current knowledge of fire prevention and safety procedures.
Requirements
  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Valid Driver's License required.
  • Knowledge of first aid methods and techniques.
