Job Summary:

The University of Tennessee is seeking a skilled HVAC Specialist I to join our Facilities Services Department. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing refrigeration and air conditioning equipment on campus.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Install, maintain, adjust, overhaul, and repair refrigeration and air conditioning equipment
  • Assist the HVAC Foreman and other mechanics in the performance of their assigned duties
  • Provide support to other areas within Facilities Services as requested and needed
  • Evaluate the needs of each system to maintain critical heating and cooling systems on campus
  • Read blueprints and wiring schematics
  • Maintain records and prepare reports on repairing or servicing equipment

Requirements:

  • Valid Tennessee Driver's License
  • High school diploma or GED
  • 3+ years' experience or trade school and experience (experience may substitute for education on a year for year basis)
  • EPA refrigerant handling certificate
  • Knowledge of safe work practices
  • Good physical health and ability to perform moderately strenuous work activities
  • Ability to work extra hours when needed and be on call for emergency response

Working Conditions:

This position may require overtime and emergency response. The successful candidate must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks effectively.
