SUMMARY:

The Safety Operations Specialist plays a crucial role in collaborating with the Safety and Security team to ensure that all policies, procedures, and protocols regarding safety and security are implemented effectively. This position is dedicated to fostering a supportive environment for individuals who may be facing challenging situations. The individual is accountable for the safety and security of facilities while providing exceptional hospitality in every interaction. The Safety Operations Specialist works closely with staff, security personnel, volunteers, and guests to execute safety initiatives and directives. Additionally, this role involves performing essential tasks to maintain and enhance the facilities.

DUTIES:

  • Maintain daily and periodic checklists and standards for critical safety responsibilities.
  • Demonstrate exceptional hospitality in all service aspects, ensuring a welcoming experience for guests, volunteers, and staff.
  • Coordinate with security personnel and the Director of Guest Services to ensure adherence to safety and security policies.
  • Collaborate with other departments to align work processes and initiatives as necessary.
  • Manage the scheduling of security and hospitality personnel.
  • Partner with the facilities team to keep the premises clean and free of debris.
  • Conduct regular rounds to assist guests in navigating appropriate areas at appropriate times.
  • Exhibit a compassionate Christian lifestyle to all guests, staff, and volunteers.
  • Ensure compliance with safety policies and procedures.
  • Conduct routine safety inspections and address any identified issues.
  • Perform guest screenings, including card scanning and metal detection.
  • Complete incident reports as necessary.
  • Maintain an updated list of ongoing safety projects.
  • Respond to facility emergencies as required, including after-hours situations.
  • Work shifts as a security officer when necessary to ensure adequate coverage.
  • Carry out additional responsibilities as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Commitment to Christian values is essential.
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience.
  • Familiarity with the State of Tennessee's Licensed Security expectations.
  • Ability to remain composed and guide others during high-stress situations.
  • Knowledge of de-escalation techniques for individuals in distress.
  • Strong communication and leadership abilities.
  • Effective time management skills with the capacity to plan, organize, and prioritize tasks.
  • Good organizational and administrative skills with a focus on accuracy in recordkeeping.
  • Excellent interpersonal and relational capabilities.
  • Ability to work under time constraints and with minimal supervision.
  • Capacity to collaborate within a team and adapt to changes effectively.
  • Working knowledge of best practice security protocols.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Light industrial environment.
  • Field-based role with occasional travel to various facilities.
  • Exposure to hazards associated with hands-on safety tasks.
  • Physical demands include pushing, pulling, and lifting equipment weighing up to 120 pounds.
  • Ability to push/pull up to 300 pounds on a flat cart.
  • Prolonged periods of walking or standing; bending, stooping, crouching, and climbing as required.
  • Exposure to various environmental conditions (cold, hot, dusty, wet, and potential exposure to bloodborne pathogens).
  • Occasional attendance at special events or hosting volunteer groups during evenings or weekends may be required.
