GENERAL OVERVIEW:

The role of the Fresh Meat Sales Associate is to promote and sell Harmons' premium meat offerings while delivering exceptional customer service. This position involves educating customers at the meat counter, maintaining product displays, ensuring cleanliness and hygiene standards, and actively engaging customers through product sampling.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Adhere to established departmental and store policies and procedures.
  • Maintain the quality and freshness of all meat products offered.
  • Manage product assortment and inventory levels for the meat service area.
  • Verify pricing accuracy and signage for meat products, focusing on promotional items.
  • Ensure the meat department is cleaned and sanitized daily, meeting company standards.
  • Clean and sanitize equipment and utensils used in the meat department.
  • Receive and stock products in the meat section.
  • Provide outstanding customer service to all patrons.
  • Inform customers about the ingredients and flavors of Harmons' fresh-cut meat products.
  • Promote meat products through sampling initiatives at the service counter and throughout the store.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Perform other job-related tasks as assigned.

WORKING RELATIONSHIPS:

Engage in daily interactions with store associates and customers.

TRAINING & QUALIFICATIONS:

To excel in this role, candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • A high school diploma or GED is preferred; or a combination of education, experience, and training that provides the necessary knowledge and skills.
  • Experience and enjoyment in preparing, cooking, and consuming various meat products.
  • Ability to understand and apply policies and procedures effectively.
  • Strong organizational and planning abilities.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and listening, to interact effectively with customers and team members.
  • Willingness to accept constructive feedback and be accountable for personal and team success.
  • Demonstrated integrity, a positive attitude, and a commitment to Harmons' mission.
  • Focus on being product-minded, customer-oriented, detail-oriented, and forward-thinking.
  • Availability to work weekends, evenings, and holidays.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

This position requires working in a safe and comfortable store environment, with potential exposure to varying temperatures and conditions. Duties involve frequent physical activity, including grasping, pushing, pulling, carrying, stooping, twisting, crouching, and reaching. The role necessitates standing, walking, and bending throughout the workday, along with the ability to handle heavy items weighing up to 50 pounds.
