About the Position

As a key member of the Mason Student Services Center team, the Generalist plays a vital role in delivering exceptional service to students, faculty, and staff. Under the supervision of the Associate Director, the Generalist provides expert guidance and support in various areas, including financial aid, student accounts, and the Office of the University Registrar.

Responsibilities
  1. Counsel and advise students, parents, faculty, and staff on a range of topics, from academic planning to financial aid and student records.
  2. Provide start-to-finish student service, resolving complex issues and escalating cases as needed.
  3. Exhibit excellent customer service skills, responding to inquiries and providing clear, accurate information and resources.
  4. Stay up-to-date on policy and procedure changes, attending training sessions and workshops as assigned.
  5. Assist with training student employees and new full-time Generalists, ensuring a smooth transition and knowledge transfer.
Requirements
  • Associate's degree in a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience working with cultural diversity and ability to communicate effectively with people of all ages and backgrounds.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with a strong focus on customer service.
  • Ability to learn and navigate multiple student information systems, including Banner and Salesforce.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, customer-oriented environment and meet expectations.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • Experience working in student services or a university setting.
  • Knowledge of student services areas, particularly in a University Registrar's Office, Financial Aid, or Student Accounts office.
  • Experience providing service in a front-facing, walk-in environment.
  • Experience with Ellucian Banner and Salesforce CRM.
