Amentum is currently seeking an Electro-Optical Systems Engineer to support the PM Soldier Survivability (PM SSV) project office under Program Executive Office (PEO) Soldier. This position will afford you an opportunity to be part of a dynamic and cohesive team whose mission is to provide and rapidly deliver enhanced protection, individual equipment, and aviation life support capabilities, which provides combat overmatch and facilitates mission execution.

As an Electro-Optical Systems Engineer, you will be expected to provide the following support to the Project Manager Soldier Survivability:

  • Provides technical support and analysis in evaluation of sensor prototypes and systems, to include thermal imagers, image intensifiers.
  • Translates military operational and mission requirements (ground, sea, air, and space) into practical system concepts and performance specifications.
  • Develops and maintains technical documentation such as specifications, engineering drawings, system interface requirements, and engineering changes.
  • Participates in post-award reviews, program reviews, design reviews, and IPTs as the project engineer and/or technical expert on assigned programs.
  • Evaluates design efforts to ensure integration of all the engineering disciplines and adequacy of the analyses performed, and optimize size, weight, and power, with cost (SWaP-C).
  • Reviews test plans, procedures, and reports for technical adequacy on assigned programs, for both Government and contractor tests, as well as all failure reports.
  • Conducts and/or monitors lab, contractor, and field testing to assess system performance and compliance with requirements. Evaluates system performance against specification requirements and assess risk of meeting user and specification requirements.
  • Makes recommendations and presents briefings and conducts demonstrations to senior-level managers in Government and industry at program manager, SES, and General Officer levels.
  • Initiates and reviews engineering change proposals and waivers/deviations for technical merit, and conducts physical and functional configuration audits.
  • Determines or evaluates analysis needed to investigate failures or performance issues, and ensures appropriate and complete root cause corrective action is identified, validated, and implemented in all products as required.
  • Recommends approaches to implement electro-optic system-level components into prototypes capable of achieving user requirements.
  • Coordinates R&D efforts with DOD, National Labs, and appropriate international forums to leverage resources.
  • Reviews program management documents to ensure accuracy and adequacy of technical content.

Qualifications:

  • BS Electrical or Optics Engineering or Equivalent and four (4) years relevant experience.

Required Clearance:

  • ACTIVE CLEARANCE LEVEL REQUIRED: Secret. Please note US Citizenship is required to obtain a Secret Government Clearance.
