About Busek

Busek is at the forefront of researching, developing, and manufacturing technologies for demanding space missions involving small satellites in low-earth orbit, large geostationary satellites, and exploratory probes destined for the moon and beyond. Our expert team possesses a diverse range of skills across in-space propulsion, spaceborne sensors, materials science, manufacturing, and high-fidelity electronic design. Notable achievements include the first US Hall Effect Thruster deployed in space, the initial Micro-PPT Thrusters, and the pioneering flight of Electrospray Thrusters. Our current projects encompass both high-volume and low-volume production of reliable in-space propulsion components and systems, alongside the development of innovative processes and technologies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure the successful management of requirements, interfaces, technical risks, configurations, and technical data.
  • Conduct system analyses and provide engineering oversight while collaborating with internal and external experts.
  • Lead a thorough flight project requirements development and verification/validation program, establish technical interfaces, and propose solutions for technical challenges and project risks.
  • Engage with team leaders and client representatives on technical issues, often necessitating coordinated efforts across various Busek products and disciplines.
  • Perform detailed evaluations on product capabilities, performance, costs, and timelines.
  • Interface with technical clients as needed.
  • Document and communicate progress through status reports and technical reviews.
  • Gather and analyze data and client requests to evaluate system operations.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Strong understanding of Mechanical, Electrical, and Software Engineering principles.
  • Excellent documentation skills and active participation in ongoing development and design evaluations.
  • Ability to comprehend customer technical specifications and relay information to a diverse group of technical team members.
  • Experience in leading comprehensive flight project requirements development and verification/validation programs, establishing technical interfaces, and formulating solutions for technical challenges and associated risks.
  • Proficiency in generating and maintaining systems engineering documentation: design requirements, interface control documents, failure modes and effects analysis, fault tree analysis, reliability analysis, etc.
  • Familiarity with the fundamental subsystems of a satellite electric propulsion system, including trade-offs among simplicity, reliability, and performance.
  • Understanding of mechanical, thermal, dynamic, and other environmental factors affecting satellite operation and testing.
  • Knowledge of the interdependencies between propulsion systems and other high-level satellite systems (e.g., power, attitude control, flight dynamics).
