Job Overview

As an In-Space Propulsion Systems Engineer, you will play a crucial role in advancing Busek's innovative propulsion technologies for space applications. Your primary responsibility will be to create and uphold the specifications required by our clients, which are essential for the development of Busek's electric propulsion systems.

To excel in this position, you should possess a solid background in systems engineering and have experience collaborating closely with requirements on intricate technical products. Your expertise in managing complex projects will enable you to interpret and break down requirements while effectively communicating product information to various engineering teams.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure that goals related to Requirement management, Interface management, Technical risk management, Configuration management, and Technical data management are achieved.
  • Conduct system analysis and provide systems engineering oversight while collaborating with both internal and external subject matter experts.
  • Lead a thorough flight project requirements development and verification/validation program, establish technical interfaces, and formulate strategies for addressing technical challenges and project risks.
  • Engage with team leaders and client representatives on technical issues, often necessitating coordinated efforts across Busek's products and technical disciplines.
  • Perform comprehensive evaluations on product capabilities, performance, costs, and timelines.
  • Interface with technical clients as necessary.
  • Document and report progress through status updates and technical reviews.
  • Gather and analyze data and client requests to evaluate system operations.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Understanding of fundamental principles in Mechanical, Electrical, and Software Engineering.
  • Strong documentation skills and active participation in ongoing development efforts and design reviews.
  • Ability to comprehend customer technical requirements and relay information to a diverse group of technical team members.
  • Experience in generating and maintaining systems engineering documentation such as hardware or software design requirements, interface control documents, and reliability analyses.
  • Familiarity with the essential subsystems of a satellite electric propulsion system, including trade-offs between simplicity, reliability, and performance.
  • Knowledge of mechanical, thermal, dynamic, and other environmental factors affecting satellite operation and testing.
  • Awareness of interdependencies between propulsion systems and other high-level satellite systems (e.g., power, attitude control, flight dynamics).

  • Ability to obtain a security clearance up to the TS/SCI level.
