Key Responsibilities:
- Possess a thorough understanding of various OSP/ISP splice enclosures from multiple manufacturers.
- Complete specialized training to meet specific customer requirements and demonstrate accountability for those needs.
- Exhibit advanced skills in cable preparation, single and mass fusion splicing, and termination.
- Show proficiency in fiber optic testing and troubleshooting, including fiber characterization and advanced documentation.
- Collaborate effectively with team members and mentor junior technicians, demonstrating basic project management skills.
- Understand and utilize ARC/GIS, Telvent, and Trimble software.
- Be prepared for travel and work during nights, weekends, and holidays, including on-call duties.
- Interpret splice and overlay schematics accurately.
- Operate OTDR, iOLM, and power meter equipment competently.
- Familiarize yourself with mass fusion ribbon splicer operations.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Ability to distinguish colors is essential.
- Must maintain a valid driver's license.
- Basic computer skills and a willingness to learn new software.
- Ability to make independent decisions and perform repetitive tasks effectively.
- Regular interaction with colleagues and clients is expected.
- Must complete OSHA-10 Certification within 90 days of employment.
- Pass a DOT Physical, drug screening, and background check.
- Willingness to travel, including potential nights and weekends.
- Overtime may be required.
- Complete entry-level safety training and demonstrate safe work practices within 90 days of hire.
- Local candidates preferred, or those willing to relocate.
Physical Requirements:
The role requires the ability to sit, stand, climb, kneel, bend, lift, crawl, squat, and reach, utilizing both hands and feet in various environments. Candidates must be able to operate a vehicle and/or bucket truck. Exposure to varying environmental conditions, including heat, cold, dust, and noise, is expected. Frequent lifting of up to 80 lbs is required, along with the ability to communicate effectively and use basic office equipment.
