We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Certified Ophthalmic Assistant to join our team at the Progressive Vision Institute. As a key member of our clinical staff, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting our physicians in delivering top-notch eye care services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist physicians in patient care, including performing technical workups, patient interviews, and special testing.
  • Obtain patient history, including chief complaint, history of present illness, past history, family history, and medications.
  • Maintain and clean all equipment used in patient care.
  • Perform comprehensive work-ups in a timely manner and return phone calls to patients and pharmacies.
  • Assist in minor surgery and maintain patient confidentiality.
  • Accurately perform various eye exams, including vision acuity, color vision, OCT, and more.
  • Scribe with physicians and troubleshoot instrument repairs as needed.
  • Determine which patients should be seen next and make them comfortable during the wait.
  • Maintain a smooth flow of patients to the physician and escort them to the check-out station or optical dispensary as necessary.
  • Help with triaging phone calls and assist in screenings as needed.
  • Seek advice from more senior staff as necessary and maintain stock levels and cleanliness of exam lanes.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Previous experience or training in a similar position is preferred.
  • Successful completion of JCAHPO Certified Ophthalmic Assistant requirements is required.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Computer literacy and ability to maintain accurate records.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and ability to maintain confidentiality.
