Job Summary

The Progressive Vision Institute is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Ophthalmic Assistant to join our team. As an Ophthalmic Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting our ophthalmologists in delivering high-quality medical services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist ophthalmologists with patient exams, procedures, and surgeries
  • Perform various administrative tasks, including scheduling appointments, managing patient records, and communicating with patients and staff
  • Conduct visual field tests, visual acuity tests, and other diagnostic procedures as needed
  • Prepare and maintain exam rooms, including cleaning and sterilizing equipment
  • Assist with laser procedures and minor surgeries, maintaining aseptic technique and infection control standards
  • Provide patient education and support, including explaining test results and treatment options
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless patient care
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, including medical histories and test results
  • Perform other duties as assigned by ophthalmologists or management
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree in a related field preferred
  • 2+ years of experience in a healthcare setting, preferably in ophthalmology
  • Knowledge of medical and ophthalmic terminology
  • Advanced comprehension of ophthalmic assistant skills, including optics, refraction, and contact lenses
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks
  • Computer literacy and proficiency in electronic medical records
