Senior Specialist, Environmental Health and Safety Expert

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Specialist, Environmental Health and Safety to join our team at Stryker Corporation. This role will be responsible for identifying and implementing process improvements associated with EHS systems and procedures, promoting a culture of integrity and accountability, and ensuring regulatory compliance with various regulatory bodies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform Job Hazard Analysis (JHA's) on new and existing processes to identify potential hazards and implement controls to mitigate risks.
  • Prepare and present reports on the status of EHS to stakeholders, including senior management and regulatory agencies.
  • Develop and implement EHS programs to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
  • Monitor incident trends and provide recommendations as an EHS Subject Matter Expert (SME) to improve safety performance.
  • Maintain waste management requirements and environmental management program to minimize environmental impact.
  • Lead EHS projects aligned with risk reduction, ergonomic improvements, and waste reduction to drive business results.
  • Promote and support a culture of integrity and accountability throughout the organization.
  • Support the EHS Committee and Global Safety initiatives to ensure a safe and healthy work environment.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance with MIOSHA, EGLE, FDA, and other regulatory bodies to avoid fines and penalties.
  • Coordinate training for the local emergency response team to ensure preparedness for emergency situations.
  • Perform ergonomic evaluations to identify and mitigate workplace hazards.
  • Coordinate industrial hygiene sampling and medical surveillance to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Ensure compliance in authorized radiation worker areas to protect employees and the environment.
  • Work with team members in a clean room environment to maintain a safe and healthy work environment.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety and Health, Environment, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering, or other related technical degree.
  • In lieu of a degree, 6 years of experience in addition to the below.
  • 2+ years of EHS experience.

Preferred Skills:

  • Ability to interpret EHS regulatory requirements and lead programs to meet requirements and bring performance to the next level.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills and ability to influence at all levels.
  • Experience in implementing and maintaining EHS management systems.
  • Professional certification (CSP, CIH, CHMM).
  • Experience with ISO 14001/45001.
