The Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) Manager is responsible for overseeing the Environmental, Health, and Safety initiatives within the organization, ensuring adherence to regulatory standards while fostering a culture of safety and environmental stewardship. This role is pivotal in creating and maintaining a secure, accident-free, and environmentally responsible workplace.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the safety operations to guarantee a secure working environment, ensuring compliance with all corporate and governmental regulations.
- Ensure environmental regulations are met, manage environmental documentation, and confirm that waste production remains within permissible limits while ensuring proper disposal methods.
- Conduct regular safety audits and environmental assessments to identify potential hazards.
- Document and communicate findings, proposing corrective measures as necessary.
- Prepare and file required governmental reports accurately and timely.
- Investigate incidents and near misses, providing analysis and recommendations for preventative measures. Ensure thorough and prompt reporting of all incidents.
- Lead the first aid and Workers' Compensation initiatives, ensuring effective management of these programs.
- Facilitate communication among all stakeholders and maintain comprehensive records related to safety and environmental issues.
- Administer return-to-work and modified duty programs to support employees' safe reintegration into the workplace.
- Manage interactions with regulatory agencies concerning safety and environmental compliance.
- Ensure all employees receive appropriate safety training by developing, implementing, and monitoring training programs.
- Maintain an adequate inventory of safety equipment to support uninterrupted plant operations.
- Promote the correct use of personal protective equipment to enhance safety and minimize costs.
- Oversee the development and enforcement of written safety and environmental policies and procedures for all personnel.
- Foster a culture of safety awareness through effective communication strategies.
- Coordinate routine health assessments for employees in line with corporate policies and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain comprehensive records related to employee health benefits and medical history.
Qualifications
- A minimum of 5 years of proven experience in supervisory roles within safety and environmental management.
- Experience in a manufacturing environment is essential.
- Strong leadership abilities with a focus on coaching and developing team members.
- Excellent problem-solving capabilities along with proficient computer skills.
