Position Overview

The Safety and Environmental Compliance Manager is responsible for overseeing the Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) initiatives within the organization. This role ensures adherence to regulatory standards while developing effective procedures, training programs, and committees to foster a safe and sustainable workplace.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the safety operations to maintain a secure work environment, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations.
  • Oversee environmental compliance, manage reporting obligations, and ensure waste management practices align with legal requirements.
  • Conduct regular safety audits and environmental assessments to identify areas for improvement.
  • Document findings and propose corrective measures as necessary.
  • Prepare and submit essential reports to governmental bodies.
  • Investigate incidents and near misses, providing analysis and recommendations for future prevention.
  • Manage the first aid and Workers' Compensation programs effectively.
  • Facilitate communication among all stakeholders and maintain comprehensive records.
  • Coordinate return-to-work and light duty initiatives to support employee reintegration.
  • Act as the primary contact for governmental agencies regarding safety and environmental issues.
  • Ensure all employees receive appropriate safety training through the initiation and management of training programs.
  • Maintain an adequate inventory of safety equipment to support ongoing operations.
  • Promote the proper use of personal protective equipment to enhance safety and reduce expenses.
  • Oversee the development and implementation of written safety and environmental policies for plant personnel.
  • Foster a culture of safety awareness and effective communication throughout the organization.
  • Coordinate regular health assessments of personnel in line with company policies and regulations.
  • Maintain documentation related to employee health benefits and records.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant supervisory experience in safety and environmental roles.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred.
  • Proven ability to mentor, lead, and inspire team members.
  • Strong problem-solving capabilities and proficiency in computer applications.
