Under the supervision of the Environmental Services Manager and the Team Leader, the EVS Technician plays a crucial role in ensuring that the college and its associated facilities are maintained in a clean, appealing, and secure manner. The areas of responsibility encompass offices, corridors, classrooms, laboratories, staircases, elevators, floors, locker rooms, athletic venues, walls, and restroom facilities. The EVS Technician employs various cleaning tools and approved cleaning agents, including wet mops, dust mops, cleaning cloths, buckets, dusters, vacuums, hand trucks, buffers, burnishers, extractors, automatic power scrubbers, and dollies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conducts a variety of cleaning tasks daily for designated areas, which includes waste disposal, dusting, sanitizing, bathroom upkeep, and wet mopping in accordance with health and safety standards.
  • Regularly collects, transports, and disposes of waste and hazardous materials.
  • Ensures that soap, toilet paper, and paper towels are stocked and replenished as necessary.
  • Performs routine cleaning of windows, walls, and blinds.
  • Prepares supply carts with necessary materials for assigned work areas.
  • Keeps cleaning equipment in a clean, safe, and organized state, reporting any defective or missing items to the Manager or Team Leader.
  • Occasionally rearranges furniture for cleaning purposes and returns it to its original position.
  • Assists with maintenance projects related to buildings and grounds as needed.
  • Provides support for furniture arrangements during special events when required.
  • Participates in monthly staff meetings and engages in departmental training and development sessions.
  • Demonstrates adherence to all operational standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Maintains effective communication and fosters positive relationships with colleagues, students, and the community.
  • May be required to work on weekends and holidays.
  • Performs additional tasks as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High School diploma or GED is mandatory.
  • A minimum of two years of experience in a similar role is required.
  • Strong dedication to customer service and teamwork.
  • Excellent time management abilities.
  • Proficient problem-solving skills.
  • Effective verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational capabilities.
  • Ability to comprehend written and verbal instructions.
  • Capacity to mentor and train student workers or colleagues.
