Compassionate Hospice Care Aide, CNA

Position Overview:
As a vital member of our team at Allay Home and Hospice, the Hospice Aide/CNA plays a crucial role in delivering compassionate care to our patients. This position involves providing essential personal care services tailored to meet the unique needs of each patient.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver personal care services based on patient assignments and promptly respond to their requests.
- Communicate effectively with patients and their families, ensuring ethical and respectful care while maintaining confidentiality.
- Ensure patient safety by using equipment correctly and adhering to safety protocols.
- Provide personal care including bathing, grooming, oral hygiene, and changing bed linens as required.
- Monitor and document vital signs such as temperature, pulse, respiration, and blood pressure as per care plans.
- Observe and care for patients' skin to prevent tissue breakdown.
- Assist with mobility and exercise as directed by healthcare professionals.
- Support light laundry tasks as assigned.
- Conduct range of motion exercises and other simple procedures as instructed.
- Maintain a clean and organized living environment for patients.
- Follow organizational standards for documentation and care procedures.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and training programs.
Qualifications:
- Completion of a minimum of seventy-five hours of classroom and supervised practical training, including sixteen hours of classroom training prior to practical experience.
- At least six months of experience in providing personal care.
- Ability to read, follow written instructions, and document care accurately.
- Understanding of hospice philosophy and comfort in providing specialized care to terminally ill patients.
- Capability to work independently with minimal supervision.
