St. Jude Children's Research Hospital's Department of Radiation Oncology is seeking a medical physicist to join its faculty. The appointment rank will be based on experience and a record of academic productivity and publications.

The department is focused on research and treatment of pediatric patients, with an emphasis on brain, musculoskeletal, and solid tumors. We are looking for candidates with a strong interest in proton therapy and developing new methods of targeting, treatment planning, delivery, and toxicity modeling.

The position includes a significant commitment of resources, allowing for protected research time and support. Our department is one of the largest pediatric radiation oncology facilities in the world, treating approximately 300 children, adolescents, and young adults each year.

We have 45,000 square feet of clinical space, including a dedicated clinic, treatment planning, therapy, and sedation and anesthesia support. Our Proton Therapy Center facility includes a synchrotron, high-energy beam transport, two gantry rooms, and a fixed beam room, equipped with high-precision patient positioning, volumetric image-guidance systems, and dedicated scanning nozzles.

The successful candidate will have a Ph.D. in medical physics, engineering, or a related physical science. Certification in radiation oncology physics by ABR/ABMP/CCPM or eligibility for certification is highly desired.
