The Heavy Haul Driver II - Equipment Transport Specialist is responsible for safely transporting heavy machinery and equipment to and from various destinations. This role requires a high level of skill and experience in operating a Class 8 tractor trailer combination with a capacity of over 80,000 pounds.
Key Responsibilities- Transportation of Heavy Equipment: Drive a Class 8 tractor trailer combination to transport heavy machinery and equipment to and from various destinations.
- Pre- and Post-Trip Inspections: Conduct thorough pre- and post-trip inspections to ensure the vehicle is in good working condition and to identify any potential issues.
- Load and Unload Equipment: Load and unload heavy equipment at designated locations, ensuring that all cargo is secure and properly positioned.
- Electronic Logging and Communication: Maintain accurate electronic logs and communicate effectively with supervisors and dispatchers to receive and report delivery instructions.
- Customer and Vendor Interaction: Interact with customers and vendors to receive delivery instructions and to report the status of all loads.
- Equipment Operation and Maintenance: Operate and maintain all construction equipment, including towable construction equipment, and perform routine maintenance tasks as needed.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, including FMSCA and Warren CAT requirements.
- Education and Experience: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and one (1) year certificate from college or technical school; one (1) year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- License and Certification: Must have a Class A CDL driver's license verified through the Motor Vehicle Report, DOT Physical Examination (Medical Card).
- Physical Demands: Must be able to pass a work-related pre-employment physical and be able to perform the physical demands of the job, including sitting, standing, walking, and operating heavy equipment.
- Work Environment: The work environment is typically outdoors, with occasional exposure to extreme weather conditions and varying levels of noise.
