Quality and Patient Safety Specialist

The Quality and Patient Safety Specialist is responsible for developing, evaluating, and implementing evidence-based medicine to enhance the safety and quality of care and services across the organization.
Key responsibilities include assessing compliance with and variance evaluation of the organization-wide measurement systems, providing data for designated quality and safety committees, and demonstrating data collection expertise for all mandatory national hospital quality measures projects.
The ideal candidate will have a strong clinical background, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Responsibilities- Develop and implement evidence-based medicine to improve patient safety and quality of care
- Assess compliance with and variance evaluation of the organization-wide measurement systems
- Provide data for designated quality and safety committees
- Demonstrate data collection expertise for all mandatory national hospital quality measures projects
- Facilitate process and quality improvement activities
- Provide education to medical staff, nursing, and ancillary services on quality reporting requirements
- Participate in and guide performance improvement activities
- Assist with regulatory visits at all facilities as needed
- Support the development of department policies and procedures
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing or Health-related field required
- Minimum three years of participation in or experience in quality assessment or three years experience in an acute care hospital required
- Knowledge of state and federal healthcare regulations and accreditation, quality, patient safety, performance improvement processes and methodologies, data management and statistical analysis, medical staff structure and peer review process required
- Advanced computer skills and proficiency in Windows environment, MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Internet Explorer, Outlook, advanced electronic medical record, data bases, spreadsheets, and graphics required
