Position Overview: The Full-Time Housekeeping Attendant plays a vital role within the Dia Beacon Operations Department, under the guidance of the Senior Manager of Facilities and, during weekends, the Senior Manager of Visitor Services. This position encompasses a full-time commitment with a weekly schedule of 32 hours.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain cleanliness of building floors through sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, or vacuuming.
  • Utilize floor scrubbing machines, wet/dry vacuums, and standard carpet vacuums effectively.
  • Perform cleaning tasks in various areas, including carpets, walls, equipment, offices, kitchens, public spaces, conference rooms, classrooms, corridors, entrances, exterior walkways, and building fixtures.
  • Be available for additional hours during special events and to cover shifts for colleagues.
  • Service and sanitize restrooms, ensuring they are stocked with necessary supplies.
  • Manage waste disposal, including trash and recyclable materials.
  • Assist with grounds maintenance, including snow removal and manual labor tasks.
  • Handle heavy furniture and equipment as needed.
  • Change light fixtures as required.
  • Receive and organize supplies in designated areas.
  • Maintain and clean equipment post-use.

Additional Duties:

  • Set up and dismantle tables, chairs, ladders, and scaffolding for events such as banquets and meetings.
  • Perform other related tasks as assigned by supervisors.
  • Communicate with management regarding supply needs, safety concerns, and maintenance issues.

Qualifications:

  • Prior experience in a similar role is essential.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to read labels, follow instructions, and operate cleaning equipment safely.
  • Awareness of potential safety and security issues.
  • Capacity to work independently and collaboratively with team members.
  • Professional demeanor when interacting with staff and visitors.

Working Environment:

This role requires continuous movement throughout the workplace to fulfill duties. Physical activities include operating cleaning equipment, using hand tools, bending, stooping, climbing, reaching, and lifting weights of 20-30 lbs frequently.
