Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Assistant or LPN Scribe to join our team at Advocate Health. This role will provide exceptional patient care and support to our dermatology team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare patients for exams by obtaining vital signs and gathering pertinent health information.
  • Perform laboratory procedures using aseptic technique and standard precautions.
  • Assist physicians with procedures and surgeries, such as pelvic exams and allergy scratch testing.
  • Administer routine medications under physician orders.
  • Provide basic patient instructions and follow through with necessary procedure or test requests.
  • Communicate effectively with physicians and other healthcare team members to ensure smooth clinic flow.
Requirements
  • 1 year of experience in medical assisting, medical transcription, emergency medical services, patient service, or as a healthcare professional.
  • Medical Assistant: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) within 45 days.
  • LPN: Active License issued by the state in which the team member practices, and BLS certification issued by the AHA within 45 days.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Ability to perform routine and complex technical skills within the Medical Assistant scope of practice.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient computer skills, including keyboarding and navigation within a windows operating system.
Working Conditions

This role requires sitting, standing, walking, lifting, squatting, bending, twisting, crawling, kneeling, climbing, and reaching above shoulders throughout the workday. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs from floor to waist, lift up to 20 lbs over the head, carry up to 40 lbs a reasonable distance, push/pull with 30 lbs of force, and perform a sliding transfer of 150 lbs with a second person present.
