Position Overview

Salary: $135,000 - $165,000 annually, dependent on experience. This is a salaried exempt role.

General Summary:

The Civil Engineer at Port of Morrow will be responsible for the design, planning, and oversight of various infrastructure projects, including but not limited to buildings, bridges, roadways, pipelines, and water management systems. The engineer will assess project feasibility by evaluating local and environmental impacts, ensuring timely completion within budget constraints.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide expert consultation and guidance to management regarding engineering requirements for construction projects, including design modifications and structural repairs.
  • Utilize design software and drafting tools to effectively communicate engineering designs.
  • Establish design specifications by calculating load and grade requirements, material stress factors, and water flow rates.
  • Plan projects through the analysis of relevant materials, including blueprints, aerial photographs, survey reports, and topographical data.
  • Prepare and present comprehensive reports on project-related topics, such as environmental impact assessments and right-of-way descriptions.
  • Complete and submit necessary permit applications to relevant agencies, ensuring compliance with regulations.
  • Estimate the materials, equipment, and labor required to determine project costs.
  • Collaborate with contractors to ensure proper project progression.
  • Work with surveyors to establish reference points, grades, and elevations that influence construction.
  • Monitor project advancement to ensure adherence to design specifications, safety, and sanitation standards.
  • Inspect, repair, and maintain structures upon project completion as necessary.
  • Perform additional related duties as assigned.

Required Skills:

  • Proficiency in Civil 3D software.
  • Strong command of Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and Project.
  • Comprehensive understanding of civil engineering principles, practices, and tools.
  • In-depth knowledge of construction materials, methods, and safety regulations.
  • Exceptional design and site development skills.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil, Environmental, or a related engineering field.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in civil project design.

Certification:

Professional Engineer (P.E.) license in the state of Oregon or the ability to obtain it within six months (reciprocity).
