Position Summary:
The Civil Engineer at the Port of Morrow will be responsible for the design, planning, and oversight of various infrastructure projects, including but not limited to buildings, bridges, roadways, pipelines, and water and sewage systems. The role requires a thorough analysis of local and environmental impacts to ensure project feasibility, timely completion, and adherence to budget constraints.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide expert consultation and guidance to management regarding engineering requirements for construction projects, including design modifications and structural repairs.
- Utilize design software and drafting tools to accurately create and communicate engineering designs.
- Establish design specifications by calculating load and grade requirements, material stress factors, and water flow rates.
- Plan projects by analyzing relevant materials such as blueprints, survey reports, and topographical data.
- Prepare and present reports on project-related topics, including environmental impact assessments.
- Complete and submit necessary permit applications to relevant agencies, ensuring compliance with regulations.
- Estimate the materials, equipment, and labor required to determine project costs.
- Collaborate with contractors to ensure proper project progression.
- Work with surveyors to establish reference points, grades, and elevations critical to construction.
- Monitor project progress to ensure compliance with design specifications, safety, and sanitation standards.
- Inspect, repair, and maintain structures upon project completion as necessary.
- Perform additional related duties as assigned.
Required Skills:
- Proficiency in Civil 3D software.
- Strong skills in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and Project.
- Comprehensive understanding of civil engineering principles, practices, and tools.
- Knowledge of construction materials, methods, and safety regulations.
- Strong design and site development skills.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil, Environmental, or a related engineering field.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in civil project design.
Certification:
Professional Engineer (P.E.) license in the state of Oregon or the ability to obtain it within six months.
