Job Summary

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver exceptional work and superior service to internal stakeholders, attorneys, and clients, contributing to the Firm's reputation for excellence by providing highly efficient and effective secretarial and administrative support to a legal team.
  • Assist attorneys with meeting client-service support demands, including providing telephone support, performing administrative tasks, document production, and other related tasks.
  • Communicate with attorneys and assist in balancing the team's workload to ensure completion of projects within established time frames and quality standards.
  • Prepare mailings and internal paperwork, including expense reimbursements, messenger or courier vouchers, and other such forms required by other support departments.
  • Schedule various events and meetings, working with the Travel Department regarding business trips and ordering meals and refreshments as necessary.
  • Proofread, prepare, and process legal documents and papers, including editing documents, preparing redlines, and tables of contents.
  • Provide dependable, flexible support, demonstrating teamwork by providing reception relief and back-up secretarial and administrative support to others as requested.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the Firm's secretarial policies and all applicable administrative procedures.
  • Notary services and other duties as requested and assigned.
Requirements
  • Minimum of 5 years of law firm or equivalent experience required, supporting a minimum of six attorneys.
  • Advanced skills in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook, as well as proficiency in Adobe Acrobat.
  • Interpersonal communication skills necessary to maintain effective relationships with partners, attorneys, clients, and staff.
  • Must be detail-oriented, able to work independently and in a team environment, and able to implement high-priority projects.
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task and possess strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to exercise discretion with confidential and sensitive information.
  • Fundamental knowledge of legal terminology.
  • Ability to provide a high level of customer service and clearly and effectively communicate verbally and in writing.
  • District of Columbia notary is a plus.

The expected annual salary for this position ranges from $68,000 to $96,000, with the salary offered determined by a wide range of factors, including experience level, education/training, and relevant skills. The Firm offers competitive benefits, including healthcare, with more details available.
