Radiation Therapy Specialist

The Radiation Therapy Specialist plays a crucial role in delivering precise ionizing radiation treatments to patients, as outlined in a comprehensive treatment plan established by a physician. This position operates under general supervision, adhering to established protocols and standards in the field of radiation therapy.
Key ResponsibilitiesThe following responsibilities are indicative of the work performed by individuals in this role, but are not exhaustive of all duties:
- Administration of Radiation Therapy: Effectively administers a prescribed course of radiation therapy to patients in accordance with physician directives and established departmental procedures.
- Patient Interaction: Engages with patients to explain the treatment process, addressing any questions or concerns they may have prior to the procedure.
- Collaboration: Works closely with physicists, planning technicians, and medical staff to ensure a seamless implementation of the treatment plan.
- Preparation and Setup: Prepares the treatment environment and equipment, ensuring all necessary devices and settings are in place for patient safety and comfort.
- Monitoring and Documentation: Maintains continuous observation of patients during treatment, documenting all procedures and adjustments in accordance with departmental protocols.
- Patient Care: Observes patients for any adverse reactions during therapy and communicates significant findings to supervisory personnel.
- Compliance and Safety: Adheres to all safety measures and departmental policies, contributing to a safe and efficient working environment.
- Training and Development: Assists in the training of new staff and students, ensuring a high level of competency in the use of therapy equipment.
