Job Summary

The Health Information Management Specialist Lead plays a crucial role in ensuring the effective management and delegation of HIM specialist responsibilities at Mountain Park Health Care. This position is responsible for overseeing the processing of incoming and outgoing patient records, ensuring that all patients are treated with dignity and respect.

Key Responsibilities

  • Record Management: Coordinates and ensures the timely distribution/release of health records and response to messages.
  • Staff Scheduling: Prepares staff schedules to provide adequate cover, including contingency planning for staff absence, delegates assignments, and communicates to the HIMS Leadership on any staffing or performance concerns.
  • Quality Assurance: Assures accuracy and completeness of patient information when it is requested for release per MPHC policies and procedures.
  • Training and Development: Ensures the successful completion of training for all new Health Information Management (HIM) specialists on MPHC's health information management policies, procedures, and practices.
  • Leadership and Collaboration: Works as a part of the leadership team for the Department/facility, collaborating with HIMS leadership to improve customer service, quality of care, and make suggestions for process improvements.
  • Performance Management: Ensures all HIM specialists provide quality customer service and promotes conflict resolution of team members with the assistance of HIMS Leadership.
  • Subject Matter Expertise: Serves as a subject matter expert for all Health Information Management (HIM) processes, procedures, and systems.
  • Travel and Attendance: Requires travel to multiple Mountain Park Health Care facilities and maintains regular and predictable attendance.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

  • Education: High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • Experience: 1-2 years of electronic health records or health information management experience in a community-based, ambulatory, or acute care setting.
