Job Summary

The Village of Orland Park is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Human Resources Generalist to join our team. As a key member of our HR department, you will be responsible for providing support to external and internal customers, including applicants, managers, supervisors, employees, and retirees.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide elevated support to external and internal customers, including applicants, managers, supervisors, employees, and retirees.
  • Collaborate with and provide detail-oriented HR support to the HR team and customers throughout the organization.
  • Perform a variety of professional level personnel duties related to one or more functional areas within a centralized human resources system.
  • Enter, update, and maintain employee data in the Village's payroll system.
  • Review and process employee personnel and payroll documents.
  • Conduct job analyses to support recruitment activities.
  • Work closely with supervisors to understand their staffing needs and develop and execute recruitment strategies.
  • Prepare job announcements, advertisements, and other recruitment materials.
  • Coordinate, design, and administer job-related selection procedures.
  • Screen applications for qualifications.
  • Provide for the establishment of employment lists and initiate employee onboarding process.
  • Conduct organizational and classification studies and audits and prepare reports, recommendations, and class descriptions.
  • Perform job evaluations as required.
  • Collect compensation and benefit data and prepare analyses and reports.
  • Provide classification, compensation, benefits, and other information to other agencies.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources Management or related field.
  • Three to five years of related professional experience in human resources administration, benefits processing, recruitment, and/or training coordination.
  • Working knowledge of the principles and practices of payroll processing.
  • Ability to successfully address a high volume of activities in a timely fashion while maintaining a high level of quality and internal customer satisfaction.
  • Knowledge in the principles and practices of job analysis, recruitment, selection, classification, compensation, labor relations, affirmative action, employee assistance, and employee development.
  • Principles and practices of public administration, data sampling, and statistical analysis techniques.
  • Operational principles and concepts related to the department or functional area to which assigned.
  • Project management and analytical techniques.
  • Principles and practices of collective bargaining administration.
  • Correct business English, including spelling, grammar, and punctuation.
  • Interpreting, applying, and explaining applicable laws, codes, regulations, and legislation related to duties.
  • Techniques for working collaboratively with a variety of individuals from various socio-economic, ethnic, and cultural backgrounds.
