Job Summary

The Mental Health Technician II (MHT) plays a crucial role in providing services to individuals with serious mental illness. This includes delivering group and/or individual training on essential life skills, such as social interaction and self-management techniques. Additionally, the MHT provides service coordination and linkage to community services, ensuring patients receive necessary support. Crisis prevention and management are also key aspects of this position, which may involve working in hospital settings, outpatient clinics, or community environments.

To excel in this role, candidates require a Bachelor's degree in Behavioral Sciences or a related field, such as Criminal Justice, Cultural Studies, Anthropology, or Sociology. Alternatively, a Bachelor's degree in a non-related field, combined with six years of comparable job experience, is also acceptable, provided one year of experience involves working with SPMI and/or Addictive Disease populations. A minimum of three years of experience, including one year with the mentioned population, is also required. Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification is mandatory, obtained within 30 days of hire date.

Desirable Qualifications
  • Certification in Therapeutic Recreation, Rehabilitation Counseling, or Psychosocial Rehabilitation Professional.
