Position Summary

The Bilingual Case Manager will oversee the comprehensive case management for individual refugee cases, ensuring the timely provision of essential services and meticulous documentation for each family supported by LUTHERAN SOCIAL SERVICES OF THE NAT. Under the supervision of the Resettlement Manager, this role aims to assist refugee and newcomer families in their transition, empowering them towards self-sufficiency.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver all mandated core services as per the Department of State Cooperative Agreement within specified timeframes.
  • Welcome new arrivals and facilitate their transportation to their new homes.
  • Collaborate with the Housing team to identify suitable and affordable housing options, assisting in the setup of their living spaces.
  • Conduct home visits and provide transportation to clients for access to various government and community services.
  • Coordinate initial services for incoming refugees and create personalized service plans.
  • Continuously evaluate individual and household needs throughout the service period in accordance with program guidelines.
  • Work with local health departments, social services, mental health providers, educational institutions, and other service providers to ensure comprehensive service delivery.
  • Engage with volunteers and community organizations to support client integration and success.
  • In partnership with the Education team, offer cultural orientation and integration training to newly arrived families.
  • Assess eligibility for rental and cash assistance, processing necessary payment vouchers.
Documentation and Reporting:
  • Maintain organized case notes and client files, ensuring thorough and timely documentation of all client interactions.
  • Report to the Program Manager for supervision and submission of required statistics and data.
  • Prepare case closure reports and provide quarterly updates on resettlement activities.
  • Utilize data management systems for regular data collection and case note completion.
  • Participate in regular meetings and case consultations, contributing to crisis mitigation strategies.
  • Stay informed about social services policies and practices relevant to client resettlement.
  • Collaborate with the program team, attending staff meetings and in-service training sessions.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:

Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in social work, human services, social services, or a related field is required.
Experience:
  • A minimum of one year of experience in refugee resettlement is preferred.
Other Requirements:
  • Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
  • Access to a personal vehicle is required.
  • Successful completion of a background check and drug screening.
Preferred Skills:
  • Fluency in one or more refugee languages.
  • Strong organizational skills for managing multiple client-related activities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Ability to balance client needs with organizational goals.
  • Commitment to the potential for personal growth and change.
  • Proficient computer skills, including knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Culturally competent communication skills.
  • Awareness of the cultural and socioeconomic characteristics of the service population.
  • Understanding of immigration and refugee issues.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak a relevant foreign language.
