Job Title: Energy Efficiency Research Associate

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Energy Efficiency Research Associate to join our dynamic Market Transformation team at the Center for Energy and Environment. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for assisting with and conducting social science research activities, including research design, data collection, data analysis, and report writing.

About the Role

The successful candidate will have a strong background in social science research, with a minimum of 1-4 years of experience in applied professional settings. You will be responsible for implementing the team's overall research and evaluation plans, supporting logic model development, and conducting literature reviews and other background research. You will also work with team members to identify potential data sources, compile sample lists, and develop surveys, interview guides, and other data collection instruments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Implement the team's overall research and evaluation plans, and work to refine them as needed
  • Support logic model development and refinement for initiatives
  • Conduct literature reviews and other background research
  • Work with team members to identify potential data sources and compile sample lists
  • Assist in developing surveys, interview guides, and other data collection instruments
  • Conduct interviews, administer surveys, and implement other data collection methods with key stakeholders and market actors
  • Analyze results using appropriate qualitative coding processes, quantitative statistical analyses, or other processes as appropriate
  • Draft reports compiling key research findings and recommendations
  • Utilize and update Salesforce CRM as appropriate; work with staff to implement CRM data entry, data cleaning, and report creation for output tracking
Requirements
  • Minimum 1-4 years of applied professional experience with social science research methods
  • Experience interviewing and building rapport with a range of individuals; demonstrating persistence and creativity in engaging harder-to-reach populations a plus
  • Ability to understand and translate technical concepts into survey/interview questions and deliverables for a range of audiences
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, especially Microsoft Excel
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and written/verbal communication
  • Ability to craft clear and compelling deliverables
  • Ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams and on a variety of tasks
  • Strong organization and time management skills and the ability to prioritize
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in social science, environmental studies, or related fields with relevant coursework in social science research methods
  • Bachelor's degree may be replaced by equivalent years of experience in a relevant field
  • Knowledge in energy efficiency and decarbonization a plus; must be willing to learn and dive into related content
  • Experience with qualitative analysis software (e.g., Atlas.TI, NVIVO) or quantitative data analysis and visualization software (e.g., SPSS, STATA, R, Tableau, GIS) a plus
What We Offer
  • Dependent on qualifications and experience, we expect the compensation range for this position will be $32-33.50/hr
