Job Description

Library Systems & Services is seeking a highly experienced Head Librarian/Project Manager to lead our team of professionals in the planning and execution of all aspects of our federal scientific library.

About the Role
  • Supervise a team of five professionals and paraprofessionals in the planning and execution of all aspects of the library.
  • Develop a library management plan in collaboration with federal staff.
  • Ensure the training of all project staff on their duties and responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
  • Manage library staff and interface with federal staff.
  • Provide oversight and implementation of library services.
  • Respond to questions regarding library policies and procedures.
  • Obtain feedback from library users to improve services.
  • Facilitate access to information resources.
  • Participate in special projects requiring knowledge of library systems technology, databases, and software.
  • Contribute to updating or modifying systems, policies, procedures, and methods.
  • Responsible for all contract deliverables and plans outreach and marketing activities.
  • Provide biomedical research services and specialized literature searching.
  • Analyze potential user groups and identify audiences for targeting library services and programs.
  • Develop new and innovative information products and services.
  • Retrieve, synthesize, and report medical information as a member of a research team.
  • Provide comprehensive reference, research, and information services.
  • Develop classes and provide instruction in the use of library resources.
  • Design, develop, and maintain training materials.
  • Continue professional development through presentations, conferences, and training programs.
Requirements
  • Master's degree in Library Science or equivalent advanced degree.
  • Experience in science, medical, or technical libraries.
  • Minimum of 10 years of library experience managing and directing librarians and professional library staff.
  • Experience in project planning and project management.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience supervising, training, scheduling, and distributing work for non-exempt and exempt level positions.
