Job Summary:

The Quality Control Technician will possess prior experience in CATV, both aerial and underground construction, with responsibilities including conducting quality inspections of aerial, buried, and underground fiber optic and coaxial cable installations, as well as conduit, grounding, and bonding inspections. This role also involves the assessment of hand hole, pedestal, and aerial terminal placements, documentation, and ensuring compliance with established standards and procedures.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Minimum of 5 years of field experience in both aerial and underground work.
  • Willingness to travel during the week, typically returning home on weekends.
  • Proficient in computer applications, especially Excel and Outlook.
  • Familiarity with smartphone applications, maps, and tools.
  • Ability to interpret cable prints.
  • Organized and capable of navigating unfamiliar environments.
  • Physically fit to walk considerable distances.
  • Knowledge of utility locating methods and experience with cable locating equipment.
  • Access to a personal vehicle, along with a valid driver's license and insurance.
  • Competence in completing company forms, daily reports, and documentation.
  • Understanding of buried, aerial, and underground cable systems.
  • Familiarity with cable splicing, maintenance, and OSP fiber/coaxial systems.
  • Experience in design or construction of OSP, including Fiber to the Premise (FTTP) deployments, covering both aerial and underground systems, splicing, testing, termination, and cable placement.
  • Ability to create and present reports on conditions observed, including photographic documentation and recommendations for corrective actions.
  • Capability to verify that work adheres to applicable guidelines and standards.
Desired Skills & Qualifications:
  • Self-motivated individual with a strong drive to initiate and complete projects.
  • Knowledge and experience in telecommunications outside plant construction techniques.
  • Familiarity with National Electric Safety Code (NESC) Standards.
