Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Assistant Program Director to join our team. This role will work closely with the Program Director to ensure the smooth functioning of our afterschool program. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting administrative tasks, providing direct supervision to staff and participants, and ensuring compliance with OCFS and DOH/SACC/DYCD regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Administrative Support, Compliance, & Implementation: Responsible for supporting the effective functioning of the afterschool program, provides direct support and supervision to staff and participants, recruits and registers participants, attends required meetings and trainings, works closely with the operation team, ensures contract and funder performance targets are met, and maintains participant files.
  • Youth Development: Utilizes principles of positive youth development, builds positive relationships with participants, acts as a role model, and fosters social, emotional, and cognitive growth.
  • Program Development: Helps create program schedules, enrolls participants, utilizes formal program feedback, organizes special projects, and assists in planning and coordination of events.
  • Staffing & Program Supervision: Assists with hiring and supervision of staff, maintains logs and databases, supervises program delivery staff, and ensures proper staff coverage.
  • Family Engagement: Meets with parents, assists with planning and conducting orientation sessions, coordinates with the Program Director, and supports parent meetings.
  • Program Procedures and Safety: Complies with health and safety guidelines, resolves incidents, communicates with parents, and ensures staff training and documentation.
  • Professional Development: Participates in training and workshops, develops professional skills, applies knowledge acquired, and assists in designing a comprehensive professional development curriculum.

Qualifications: College credits in Education or related field, at least one year of administrative experience, at least two years of experience supervising school-age programs, proficient in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Google Docs, strong communication, punctuality, and teamwork skills.
