Deaf and Hard of Hearing Teacher Opportunity

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Deaf and Hard of Hearing Teacher to join our team in Alameda, CA. This full-time position will focus on providing specialized educational support to students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing across PreK and Elementary School levels.

Job Details
  • Position: Deaf and Hard of Hearing Teacher
  • Type: Full-time
  • Hours: 32.5 hours per week
  • Location: Onsite
Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing
  • Provide direct instruction using appropriate auditory, visual, and tactile methods
  • Collaborate with speech-language pathologists, audiologists, and other professionals to support students' communication needs
  • Adapt curriculum and instructional materials to meet the unique learning needs of each student
  • Use assistive technology and devices effectively to enhance student learning and communication
  • Monitor student progress and adjust instructional strategies as necessary
  • Maintain accurate records of student attendance, behavior, and academic performance
Qualifications
  • Experience working with students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing preferred
  • Knowledge of American Sign Language (ASL) and/or other communication modes used by individuals with hearing impairments
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with a multidisciplinary team and communicate clearly with students, parents, and colleagues
  • Patience, empathy, and dedication to supporting the educational and social-emotional development of students with hearing impairments
