Soliant Education is seeking a qualified Teacher for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) to join our team in the Fremont, CA area. Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) tailored to the unique learning needs of DHH students across the K-12 grade levels.
  • Utilize a variety of evidence-based instructional strategies, including auditory-verbal, visual, and tactile methods, to promote language development, literacy skills, and access to the general education curriculum.
  • Collaborate with general education teachers, specialists, therapists, paraprofessionals, and families to create a cohesive and inclusive learning environment for DHH students.
  • Conduct ongoing assessments to monitor student progress, analyze data, and modify IEPs as needed to ensure continued growth and development.
  • Integrate assistive technology and communication tools to support DHH students in accessing information and actively participating in learning activities.
  • Foster a positive learning environment that promotes self-advocacy, social-emotional well-being, and a strong sense of identity for DHH students.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current on best practices in deaf and hard of hearing education.
Requirements:
  • California State Teaching Credential with authorization in Deaf and Hard of Hearing Education.
  • Prior experience working with DHH students in a K-12 school setting is highly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of child and adolescent development, deaf and hard of hearing education methodologies, and evidence-based practices for DHH learners across the K-12 spectrum.
  • Expertise in developing and implementing IEPs, utilizing assistive technology and communication tools, and incorporating various instructional strategies for DHH students.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills to build strong relationships with DHH students, parents, general education teachers, specialists, therapists, paraprofessionals, and other school staff.
  • Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL) and a strong understanding of Deaf culture are highly preferred.
  • Patience, flexibility, creativity, and a passion for helping DHH students overcome challenges and achieve academic success in an inclusive learning environment.
